In late 275, Tacitus turned his attention to an invasion of the Pontic Goths in Asia Minor. Tacitus' troops seemed to have achieved early victories, which resulted in the issue of the VICTORIA GOTTHI coins. Tacitus assumed the title of "Gothicus Maximus" in spring 276.
