Septimius Severus. AR denarius, Emesa, 193 CE; 17mm, 2.94g, 6h. BMCRE W321 and p. 88, * note var., RIC 352 var., RSC 66 var. Obv: IMP CE L SEV SE—V PERT AVG • CO [sic]; head laureate r. Rx: BONI — E—VINTVS [sic]; Bonus Eventus standing l., holding plate of fruit and grain ears. Very rare; 0 of the type in Reka Devnia. Good VF.

This variety, with both misspelled rev. legend and CE for CAE and CO in obv. legend, seems to be previously unrecorded. About 7 coins from this obv. die are known to C. Clay, all with rev. legend FORTVNAE REDVCI or variant thereof. The present coin is also an obv. die link with RSC 174 var. in this collection, making it perhaps the 8th known coin from this obv. die.
