Scarce FIL AVG issue, struck at Thesalonica (mint under control of Galerius). Maximinus was given the Filius Augustorum designation at the Carnuntum conference, but was unaccepting of this as a downgrade from Caesar. Interesting that the Reverse legend refers to Caesar, not Fil Avg. The eastern mints Antioch and Alexandria under Miximinus control continued to use Nobilisimus Caesar on the coins for Maximinus, never Fil Avg.
