Abraham Lincoln right with "Lincoln 1809 - 65" surrounding. It has been reported that Soley produced medals up to 1907 in celebration of the Hudson-Fulton Exposition. With Soley's death on 26 March 1908, it is unlikely this medal was produced for the centennial of Lincoln's birth. Thus, it must have been for some other occasion related to Lincoln. The Grand Army of the Republic, Woman's Relief Corps, Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, or Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War could have commissioned it or he could have produced it for sale for one or more of their meetings.
