The ninth release in the STAR WARS™ - Chibi Series is dedicated to Obi-Wan Kenobi™. Obi-Wan Kenobi™, also known as Ben Kenobi™, was a Jedi Master who served the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Republic Era. As a mentor, Kenobi was responsible for training Anakin and his son Luke Skywalker™, who both in turn served as his Padawan in the ways of the Force. Kenobi met his former Padawan, now known as Darth Vader™, aboard the first Death Star. There he sacrificed himself in the battle against the dark Sith Lord to ensure Luke and his allies escape. In death, Kenobi became one with the Force to continue guiding Luke throughout the Galactic Civil War. The coin was struck by the New Zealand Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality. The special feature of this coin is its special shape in "Chibi Art" style. Chibi figures are characterized by their disproportionately large head and a relatively small body. This strongly belittles the depicted characters. The unusual Chibi shape makes this silver coin a highlight for every STAR WARS™ fan and coin collector. The reverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The mintage is strictly limited to only 2,000 pieces worldwide. The uniquely shaped Obi-Wan Kenobi™ Chibi Coin is delivered in the original box from the New Zealand Mint including a certificate of authenticity.
