ROYALE D'OR, 2nd emission (IOheS) possibly from the TOURNAI mint, c. 1359 ( * based on weight and diameter ). (G)
* Copy belonging to the 2nd issue due to its legal legend, but corresponding to the theoretical weight of the 1st issue, therefore struck in Tournai following the letters patent of May 3, 1359 (with executory of May 25, 1359) authorizing an issue with the theoretical weight of 3.708 grams (1/66 to the mark) (cf. Félicien de Saulcy, Recueil de documents relatifs à l'histoire..., volume I, p. 401). Rare case where a royal coin of Jean le Bon can be attributed to a specific workshop.
* Exemplaire appartenant bien à la 2e émission en raison de sa légende de droit, mais correspondant au poids théorique de la 1re émission, donc frappé à Tournai suite aux lettres patentes du 3 mai 1359 (avec exécutoire du 25 mai 1359) autorisant une émission au poids théorique de 3,708 grammes (1/66 au marc) (cf. Félicien de Saulcy, Recueil de documents relatifs à l’histoire..., tome I, p. 401). Rare cas où une monnaie royale de Jean le Bon peut être attribuée à un atelier précis.
