BCN issues a new 5 Cordobas Note and Commemorative Coins on its 60th Anniversary

As part of the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Central Bank of Nicaragua, this institution reports on the issuance of a new commemorative banknote in the denomination of 5 cordobas and commemorative coins of gold, silver and nickel.

The 5 cordobas banknote is gray and printed on a polymer substrate. Its dimensions are 126 mm in length and 67 mm in height. As part of its design, the BCN building is inscribed on the front of this note and the Las Piedrecitas Desnivel Pass on the back. In addition, the BCN logo is displayed on both sides of the banknote.

It should be noted that the ticket has raised tactile points aimed at people with visual limitations, which will allow easy identification. Likewise, the polymer substrate is characterized by its high durability, greater counterfeiting difficulty and environmental friendliness.

The 5 cordobas banknote will begin to circulate on October 1, 2020 and the commemorative coins will be sold at the BCN windows as of the same date.

The main characteristics of the commemorative gold, silver and nickel coins are the face value of 60 cordobas, diameter of 35 millimeters and weight of 31.1 grams for gold and silver coins, and 20.0 grams for nickel coins. In their design, they include the BCN building on the front and the institution's logo on the back.
