Greater Poland mint in beginnings of XI century.  This coin's origin is evidenced by its style and manner of manufacture.

NOTE: In this time almost every major of stronghold, provided they had the means and the need, could produce such coins. There is an ongoing debate as to whether these imitations were produced with the consent and knowledge of Bolesław the Brave, or whether they were ‘illegal’ issues.

Hybrid

OBVERSE: The reverse imitating denarius of Otto and Adelaide. In the inscription characters attempting to imitate the letters.

REVERSE: The side with the cross is a mixture between the Spira style and the Bavarian coins. Individual letters visible.

NOTE: In opinion prof. M. Bogucki (2012, p. 102) imitations-hybrids combining Bavarian designs with others are found in all districts. Most of them have been found in the treasures of central and eastern Greater Poland and in Mazovia, although they also occur in Pomerania, Silesia and Lesser Poland . Such a spread of coins combining different patterns indicates their local, Polish origin. On the basis of the finds they can be generally dated to the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the 11th c.
