In 1883 the Brooklyn Bridge, built by John Roebling and his son Washington Roebling, was dedicated. It was the first bridge to cross the the East River (actually a tidal strait) from the then City of Brooklyn to the City of New York. Soley produced these medals to commemorate the event.
