Comments:
John Galeas Visconti, in Italian Gian Galeazzo Visconti, was a nobleman born in Milan on October 16, 1351 and died on September 3, 1402 in Melegnano, who became lord of Milan in 1385 and was the first duke in 1395.he was the son of Galeas II Visconti and Blanche of Savoy.
In June 1360, the year he was nine years old, his father made him marry Isabelle de Valois, twelve years old, daughter of the king of France Jean II le Bon, marriage that consecrates the union between Galéas II and the French royal family. Jean Galéas thus became Count of Vertus (of the city of Vertus in Champagne), a title created by Jean II and brought in dowry by his wife.
He died in the plague epidemic of 1402, in the castle of Melegnano, leaving the state coffers drained and a widow in serious financial difficulties. After his death, the authoritarian state that he had maintained with all kinds of violence quickly went to pieces.
