This 1865 nickel three-cent piece has VG details and a very odd feature on the reverse. At first glance it appears it could be a strikethrough error, but closer examination reveals that there is actually some form of unusual damage in that area, instead. (Some kind of weird, localized acid etching, perhaps? I don't know.) Anyway, it's not an ideal example if you are choosy about condition, but it is at least an interesting and unusual piece, struck in the final year of the American Civil War.
