Publius Helvius Pertinax
"The Teacher from Liguria" Pertinax was born on August 1, 126 CE. His father, Helvius Successus, was a freedman from Liguria and a timber merchant. Pertinax began his career as a teacher of grammar but eventually decided to pursue a military path. He became a symbol of ambition, climbing the ranks of the political hierarchy. Despite his humble origins, through hard work and dedication, he rose to the position of emperor and earned a good reputation.
After a successful military career, he served as a senator and later as the prefect of Rome. Reluctantly, he accepted the throne offered by the murderers of Emperor Commodus. However, his reign lasted only 86 days before he was assassinated by rebellious guards.
Ops, or Opis (Latin for "Abundance"), was a deity of fertility and the earth.
