Trajan Tetradrachm minted in Cilicia, Tarsus

Tetradrachms from Tarsus have one of my favorite portraits from the entire Trajan’s coinage, although this presented type is even being described as exceptionally Roman (in terms of style). A lovely chunky piece of ancient silver.

On the reverse - Tyche seated right on rocky outcropping, holding palm frond with right hand; below, half-length figure of river-god Cydnus swimming right; civic monogram to right
