Francois II 1559 - 1560 and Mary I, Queen of Scotland

TWELVE PENNY GROAT,  Billon, ( also known as a NONSVNT, from the reverse legend of the coin) issued in 1559, by the Edinburgh mint. 

Sadly, France issued no coinage during the short reign of Francois I I, that bore his name, or indeed, even his initial  F/M.

As a small homage, to recognise him amongst his fellow kings of France,  I include this coin as a small tribute to that brief period of history.
