Roman Republican Silver after 140 BC.

This collection is of later Roman Republican Silver after about 140 BC.  About this time, the motif design of Roman Republican silver began to gradually transition away from the traditional design of Helmeted Roma on the obverse and the dioscuri, or chariot driven by various deities, usually Victory or Luna.  The designs became much more imaginable, often relating background stories and scenes, and increasingly becoming a means of propaganda presented by the mint magistrates, displaying family history for political ambitions.
