Obverse description : Tête nue d’Aélius à droite (O°).
Obverse translation : “Lucius Ælius Cæsar”, (Lucius Aelius césar).

REVERSE


Reverse legend : TR - [P]O-T - C[OS - II]/ PANN-O-NIA/ S|C.
Reverse description : La Pannonie, tourelée, debout à gauche, tenant le vexillum de la main droite et relevant un pan de sa robe de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Tribunicia Potestate Consul Iterum, Pannonia”, (Revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne consul pour la deuxième fois, la Pannonie).

Caesar (12/136-1/01/138)

Aelius, perhaps illegitimate son of Hadrian, received the title of Caesar at the very end of 136. Consul in 137, became Lucius Verus Ælius, he was sent as governor in Pannonia in 137. Ill, he returned to Rome and died on 1 January 138.
