The standard weight of these coins was 4/11 troy ounce (174.5 grains). Under the Coinage Act of 1946, the composition changed from .500 silver to .750 copper/.250 nickel but the weight remained unchanged.
Two die varieties exist for this type - Obverse 1 from the plastic set issue and Obverse 2 struck for circulation:
Obv 1 I of ELIZ between beads, faint silhouette, I of DEI just to the right of a bead, B of BRITT between beads;
Obv 2 I of ELIZ at a bead, sharper silhouette, I of DEI between beads, B of BRITT to the right of a bead;
