RIC: 416 VAR. (UNLISTED WITH F19 BUST)
COLLECTION NO. 1291

NOTE:  very rare, pictorially attractive and desirable reverse type struck only at Ticinum. One of the most sought-after reverses in the whole Probus' coinage.

In addition, rare and desirable heroically nude bust type with spear and aegis (Greek: αιγίς aigís 'goatskin', Latin: aegis) - in Greek mythology, the shield of the god Zeus and goddess Athena made from the skin of the goat Amalthea. RIC V.2 misinterprets aegis for "square shield";

Reverse struck from a worn die. Obverse has great details and full original silvering!
