Very rare and desirable heroically nude bust type with spear and aegis (Greek: αιγίς aigís 'goatskin', Latin: aegis) - in Greek mythology, the shield of the god Zeus and goddess Athena made from the skin of the goat Amalthea. RIC V.2 misinterprets aegis for "square shield"; scarcer variant with wide (instead of joined as usual) wreath ties of the corona radiata.
Virtually as struck with full silvering remaining!
Bardzo rzadki i poszukiwany typ bohaterskiego nagiego popiersia z włócznią i egidą (gr. αιγίς aigís ‘kozia skóra’, łac. aegis) – w mitologii greckiej tarcza boga Zeusa i bogini Ateny zrobiona ze skóry kozy Amaltei).RIC V.2; błędnie opisuje egidę jako "kwadratową tarczę". Rzadszy wariant z szerokimi (a nie złączonymi jak zwykle) wiązaniami wieńca corona radiata.
Wspaniały, okołomenniczy egzemplarz z zachowanym pełnym srebrzeniem!
