Comments:
The date 1613 present on some specimens (Francesco IV died on December 22, 1612) is explained by the fact that the mintings were already prepared in the previous year with the date of the following year. These coins were therefore presumably minted at the end of 1612, before the death of the duke. The coin, to which all numismatic literature assigns the name of parpagliola, is instead mentioned on period documents as "cavallotto" or "eagle", rated at 3 large (see Gianazza 2009, page 198).
