Comments:
In 1947 the minting is retouched which is why there are two main variants. The differences are these:
1) the characters that make up "REPVBBLICA ITALIANA" are different. In the word "REPVBBLICA" the differences are noticed in particular in the E, in the two B and in the C; but also in the term "ITALIANA" differences are observed. In the second type, the signature P • GIAMPAOLI is shifted to the right respect to that of G • ROMAGNOLI compared to the first type.
2) the wing feathers touch the edge in the first type, but not in the second
3) the mane of the Pegasus is different
4) the ear is less rounded in the second coinage
5) the attachment of the wings is different
6) the tail is different in particular it can be seen in the terminal extremity
7) the front hooves are of different make, while the rear ones of the first coinage border the edge unlike those of the second.
