denarius, second type of coins of Boleslaw the Bold, dated 1076-1080, Cracow mint
OBVERSE: Bust of the king left with diadem, wearing armour. In hand the sword of justice. To the right the mint marks: the letter Z, above it a cross, below it three points.
REVERSE: A building with three towers topped by large dots. Some historians interpret this as the oldest image of Krakow. It is more likely to regard this representation as a symbol of the CIVITAS DEI. A few dots around the building.
Poor silver, very nice coin for this emission.
