This sculpture was used to decorate the royal palace of the Kingdom of Benin, modern Edo state, Nigeria. The first is a soldier who used to guide the kingdom. The second and third soldiers on a chariot used to help the kingdom carry the sword. Note the sword was always up, symbolizing the readiness for the battle. The last solider was used to ring the bell (which he is holding) to notify the people that the King is passing or the King has arrived.
