Iulia Avita Mamaea Augusta

"The Syrian Dynasty" Julia Avita Mamaea (c. 180–235 AD) was the daughter of Julia Maesa and the Syrian Gaius Julius Avitus Alexianus. She was a cousin of Emperor Caracalla. Her husband was Gessius Marcianus, and her son was the future Emperor Alexander Severus. Her sister was Julia Soaemias, the mother of Heliogabalus, Alexander's predecessor. Together with her son, she was murdered in 235 AD in a military camp near Mogontiacum during a rebellion led by Maximinus. Her image, bearing the title Augusta, appeared on coins from 222 to 235 AD.
