Comments:
There are many small variations of legend and figure on the obverse and on the reverse, as well as the presence of a linear circle on both the obverse and the reverse. In the BAM collection, ex Magnaguti, there is a hybrid example which presents a double portrait (BAM III, 254). Although the majority of the classical literature classifies this nominal as a quattrino, several recent studies by Bellesia, also reiterated by Veronesi, reclassify all 16th century nominal values as pure copper with an average weight greater than one gram, as a bagattino.
