Obverse: Helmeted head of Roma r. with splayed visor; “X” behind; Border of dots
Reverse: Dioscuri r.; below, ; in linear frame, “ROMA”.
Mint: Etruria(?)
Weight: 3.73 gm.
Reference: Crawford 106/3b
Provenance: Amphora/David Hendin Auction 5-Feb-2015. Ex. RBW, purchased from Hirsch 179, 9/21/1993 for $217.
There is a significant flan chip from 9-11:30 obverse, but this does not obscure the motif, and other than the dotted border, the coin is relatively complete. RBW attributed this as 106/3c with large head and short hair, but this is clearly the style of Crawford’s plate XX.13 with long hair below neck flap.
