United States: copper Draped Bust half cent, 1800

Here is an early Draped Bust half cent from the first year of issue for that type.  This piece is in pretty wretched condition, with heavy corrosion and some pitting.  It is definitely not the best quality example.  It is, however, an 1800 half cent, and affordable as such.  You're not likely to find many US half cents- let alone early ones like this- so cheaply, most of the time.

The date is readable- if only just barely- provided you hold it at the right angle to the light.  Parts of the legends are also faintly visible.

In G4 grade, per Numismedia (24 Aug. 2021), this would be an $84.00 coin.  Obviously, this particular piece does not even approach that grade, but it might still be an interesting "budget" example for someone who's not too picky about condition.
