This medal was minted in Rome under the Papacy of Pope Pius IX in 1867. In the Catholic Church June 29 is the feast day celebrating the martyrdom of both Saints Peter and Paul. This Medal was minted in commemoration of the 1800th anniversary of this celebration.

Buste du Pape Pie IX à droite, portant les habits pontificaux. Légende latine autour avec date du Pontificat.

Revers:
Bustes conjoints de Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul de face tournés à droite. Légende latine et date en chiffres romains dans un cercle extérieur. A l'exergue, la croix et la Sainte lance liées ensemble.

Cette médaille a été frappée à Rome sous la papauté du pape Pie IX en 1867. Dans l'Église catholique, le 29 juin est le jour de la fête célébrant le martyre des saints Pierre et Paul. Cette médaille a été frappée en commémoration du 1800e anniversaire de cette célébration.
