Divus Valerian II, died 258. Antoninianus (Silver, 22 mm, 3.45g), Cologne, 258. 

Obv: DIVO VALERIANO CAES Radiate and draped bust of Divus Valerian II to right, seen from behind. 

Rev: CONSACRATIO Divus Valerianus II, raising his right hand and holding long scepter in his left, reclining left on eagle flying to right with thunderbolt in talons.

Cohen -, cf. 5 (no thunderbolt). MIR -, cf. 911e (no thunderbolt). RIC -, cf. 9 (no thunderbolt). Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die.

This coin differs from other known examples from this issue in showing the eagle on the reverse holding a thunderbolt in his talons, a suitable attribute of Jupiter's sacred bird.
