* Dr med. Hans Steger lived and worked in Egypt for a long time during the German Empire. This auction catalog documents him for the year 1918 in Helouan (Helwan) near Cairo. Sulphurous healing springs made this place a popular health resort well into the 20th century, where kidney and respiratory diseases in particular sought healing. Hans Steger had returned to Germany by 1920 at the latest and had lived in the Brandenburg town of Sieversdorf ever since (Berliner clinical weekly journal 57, 1920, p. 316). The Cahn company sold his collection in the context of several auctions (auctions of February 25, 1918, February 27, 1933 and February 26, 1935). In auction 6 of the Basel coin dealership, scheduled for March 18, 1936, the Swiss offshoot and successor of the House of Cahn, another group from the collection of the now deceased was auctioned off with the Alexandrian coins.

* Dr. med. Hans Steger lebte und arbeitete in der Zeit des Deutschen Kaiserreiches längere Zeit in Ägypten. Der vorliegende Auktionskatalog dokumentiert ihn für das Jahr 1918 in Helouan (Helwan) bei Kairo. Schwefelhaltige Heilquellen machten diesen Platz zu einem bis ins 20. Jahrhundert beliebten Kurort, in dem insbesondere Nieren- und Atemwegserkrankte Heilung suchten. Hans Steger war spätestens 1920 nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt und wohnte seitdem in der brandenburgischen Ortschaft Sieversdorf (Berliner klinische Wochenschrift 57, 1920, S. 316). Die Firma Cahn löste seine Sammlung im Rahmen mehrerer Versteigerungen auf (Auktionen vom 25.2.1918, vom 27.2.1933 und vom 26.2.1935). In der auf den 18.3.1936 terminierten Auktion 6 der Münzhandlung Basel, des schweizerischen Ablegers und Nachfolgers des Hauses Cahn, gelangte mit den Alexandrinischen Münzen eine weitere Gruppe der Sammlung des nunmehr bereits Verstorbenen zum Ausruf.
