Licinius II Caesar bronze Æ17.

Obverse: Laureate bust right, wearing imperial mantle, holding globe, sceptre and mappa.

Reverse: Camp gate surmounted by three turrets.

Numista-170090.  RIC VII 49.  Heraclea, 318-320 AD.  17 mm, 3.25 grams.  Nice patina.

I find coins of Licinius II interesting because they seem to depict him as an adult, despite the fact that he was only about eleven years old when he was murdered in 326, along with his father, Licinius.  I wonder if the older portrait on the coin represented the father, despite the son being named in the coin’s legends?
