This coin is part of an unpublished, very rare and brief first phase of Serdica's 3rd emmission with greek letters and without the KA reform mark in exergue. Karl Pink only cites latin (not greek) letters in his Aufbau for Serdica's 3rd emission. According to Philippe Gysen Latin letter marks were used in the second phase of the 3rd emmission.
This is only the 3rd specimen of this type known!
Sol was the favorite and most frequently depicted God of the Roman pantheon in Probus' coinage. There are numerous variants of reverses with Sol; however the depiction of Sol in quadriga (left or central/spread) remains undoubtedly an iconic, classis reverse for Probus . This reverse type was struck in Lugdunum, Rome, Ticinum, Siscia, Serdica and Kyzikos mints, with each mint having its unique style.
A portrait of the finest style, with an interesting depiction of Probus' eyes. It lamost seems like Probus is looking attentively at the viewer. Virtually as struck with full original silvering and great details. An extremely rare and superb coin!

Egzemplarz z niepublikowanej, bardzo rzadkiej i krótkiej (trzeciej) emisji, bez znaku reformy KA w odcinku menniczym (w pierwszej fazie "A" tej emisji występowały greckie litery na oznaczenie czterech fukcjonujących w Serdyce oficyn, które w drugiej fazie "B" zostały zastąpione łacińskimi literami; Pink odnotowuje jedynie łacińskie litery).
Zaledwie trzeci znany egzemplarz tego wariantu na świecie. Wspaniały, menniczy egzemplarz z pełnym zachowanym srebrzeniem powierzchniowym i świetnymi detalami.
