Gaius Iulius Caesar Octavianus

"Princeps et Secundus" Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (63–12 BCE) was a close friend and contemporary of Emperor Augustus, studying alongside him in Apollonia. Following the assassination of Caesar, it was on Agrippa's advice that Octavian immediately set out for Rome.

Agrippa played a significant role in the war against Lucius Antonius, the brother of Mark Antony, which ended with the capture of Perusia. Two years later, he suppressed a rebellion in Gaul. As commander of the fleet, he defeated Sextus Pompey in the battles of Mylae and Naulochus in 36 BCE. His victory in September 31 BCE at the naval Battle of Actium against the fleet of Mark Antony and Cleopatra VII was also largely due to his strategic prowess. This triumph secured Octavian’s full control over the Roman Empire. The reverse of the coin commemorates the colonization of Egypt.
