Flavius Valerius Constantinus

"Free Sunday" On March 7, 321 AD, Constantine issued an edict declaring Dies Solis Invicti (Sunday) a day of rest; commerce was prohibited, but agricultural activities were permitted. Beata Tranquillitas ("Blessed Tranquility").

"On the venerable day of the sun, let officials and city residents rest, and let all workshops be closed. However, in the countryside, those engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their tasks, as it often happens that another day is not as suitable for sowing grain or planting vineyards. Neglecting the right moment for such activities could lead to the loss of heaven’s bounty."
