Tuesday 8 March 2022 - Women's Rights Day
International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March each year by the UN and in many countries is a bank holiday.
To highlight this day, we present a coin inventoried by Luchtaine on CollecOnline; representing Queen Anne. A key moment for women in history. Indeed, on March 8th 1702, England, Scotland and Ireland formed a single kingdom, Great Britain, of which Anne was the first queen until her death.

Friday 11 March 2022 - Discover sardine forks
π‘ Did you know that?
These little forks, commonly found on our grandparents' dinner services, had little holes to let out the juice, oil or sauce from cans of sardines. The small tines are used to prick the fleshy parts of the fish. These funny looking forks were often made of silver. They are called "sardine forks" or "mignardises".
Here are some pictures of the different models produced at the time. Small objects on the theme "art of the table" to collect to amuse your guests around a meal!

Monday 14 March 2022 - Tips for starting a beautiful mineral collection!
βοΈ Feel like getting started with mineral collecting? Here's a great article with tips for starting a nice mineral collection. Good to know: focus on finding quality stones at the best price rather than quantity. Beware, some rare species are perfectly unsightly, but the value of the latter, gives them an important place in a collection.

Tuesday 15 March 2022 - On 14/03/2022 we celebrated "Pi-Day
Yesterday was 14/03/2020! To understand this day, you have to remember its Anglo-Saxon origin: "Pi-Day". Dates in English are read "backwards" (isn't it?) and March 14th becomes 03/14, which is about 3.14... That's all it took for some mischievous mathematicians to come up with the idea of celebrating the number Pi on this very day!
The number PI represents the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter. For this occasion, here is an amazing vintage object inventoried on CollecOnline: an algebra lesson recorded on a vinyl record! And why not?

Monday 21 March 2022 - Namibia's declaration of independence
On 21 March 1990, Namibia's declaration of independence ended a long and complex process of decolonisation. The southern African country became the last on the continent to gain independence. President Samuel Nujoma said on that day: 'The last colony in Africa is, as of today, liberated. The fate of our country is now in our hands".
ποΈ To celebrate this important date, we unearthed a beautiful medal commemorating this event. An object inventoried by One-Dollar in its phaleristics collection:

Tuesday 22 March 2022 - Discover ancient mustard pots
π‘ Do you know these small objects on the theme Art de la Table? These are antique mustard pots, they are also called "mustard pots".
These objects intended to serve mustard during meals, were usually made of ceramic or glass. For the more luxurious dinner services, they were made of silver, with interlocking decorative motifs.
The models vary in size and sometimes have a notch on the lid to make room for a small spoon. Here are some more ideas for collectibles!
