Gallia Placidia was the granddaughter, daughter, sister, wife and mother of an emperor. As a girl, she was captured by the Visigoths during the Sack of Rome in 410. As a mother, she virtually ruled the Western Roman Empire as regent for her son, Valentinian III. Her mausoleum in Ravenna remains one of the most beautiful examples of Late Antique Christian art to this day. All in all, her coins are quite rare. The portrait is above average in terms of style.
