Comments:
The standard weight of these coins was 4/11 troy ounce (174.5 grains). This issue was known as the 'Godless' Florin since there was no 'D.G.' or Dei Gratia (meaning 'by the Grace of God'). The denomination of one tenth of a pound was an early nod to a decimal currency but it would be more than 120 years before British coinage finally went decimal.
