Roman Empire, Claudius II (268-270), Antoninianus, Siscia mint, 3rd emission, 2nd officina.
Obverse: IMP CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate head left, with drapery to front and rear;
Reverse: SPE-S AV-G, Spes standing left, holding flower in right hand and raising skirt with left hand, II in left field;
Notes: The A3 bust type, showing only the head with slight drapery, was used by Claudius II in almost all of his mints, but these coins are all very hard to find on the market - even rarer is its left-facing variant, which was used only at Siscia and Cyzicus. At the former mint it was introduced for the third emission and used only by the first two officinae, paired with only two reverses, Laetitia and Spes. It appears that only two dies, one for officina, were engraved with this bust type.
