Saint Francis, kneeling on the left, arms outstretched, receives the stigmata of the dove of the Holy Spirit. The date in exergue.

Comments:
Depending on the date, there are some small variations on the obverse and reverse, both in the legend and the figure. The coin, to which all numismatic literature attributes the name of parpagliola, is rather mentioned in period documents as "cavallotto" or "aquilotto", at the price of 3 Grossi (cf. Gianazza 2009, page 198). Consistently, only copies prior to 1590 and therefore the reform that aligns the monetary system with that of Savoy must be classified as parpagliola.
