Comments:
Charles-Alexandre de Lorraine (1712-1780) was one of the main Austrian commanders. He was defeated by Frederick II of Prussia at the battles of Chotusitz (1742) and Hohenfriedberg (1745) and by Maurice of Saxony at Rocourt (1746). The city of Prague was taken by the Bavarians and the French in 1741; in 1742, the French retreated to Ægra: this retreat is known as the "retreat from Prague". The town was recaptured on November 26, 1744 with the help of British subsidies.
