The Perth Mint has demonstrated for years why it is arguably the world's leading mint in numismatic art and design, and this is another addition to that claim via beautiful and masterful design: the Mint’s Ouroboros 2022, 2-ounce antiqued silver coin – a homage to the spirit of infinity.
An ancient symbol rich in meaning, the ouroboros, depicting a serpent eating its own tail, is the symbol that has been used for thousands of years to represent the cycle of life, immortality, and infinity.
In the 17th century, it was first used mathematically to denote the concept of the endless and the unlimited – an infinite line.
The reverse portrays the stunning image of a blue-green and gold-colored snake consuming its tail which is further enhanced with variegated tinting along the snake’s head and body The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mint mark is featured at the bottom center.
The obverse features the effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II including the coin’s face value ($2), the year (2022), and its purity (.9999).
