denarius, type V, Cracow or Wrocław mint (after 1166)
NOTE: This rare coin has traditionally been treated as the 5th issue of Prince Boleslaw the Curly. However, there are indications that it is the first issue of denarii of Bolesław the Tall, Duke of Silesia, son of Władysław the Exile, minted in Wrocław.
OBVERSE: Prince on throne, sword in right hand with blade pointing upwards. In the field points.
REVERSE: Griffin to the right with wings raised. In the field points.
A beautifully preserved coin, with original patina.
NOTE: Coin minted on a very thin flan using the semi-bracteat technique. In this state of preservation a rarity!
