Unknown local mint. The large weight of the coin suggests its origin in the first half of the 11th century.
NOTE: The same coins were found in the famous Lupawa coin hoard in Pomerania. They were produced in numerous local mints from the mid-11th to the early 12th century. Numerous imitations and hybrids of German, Anglo-Saxon and Danish coins were intended to provide for the needs of the local market for money. Therefore, no care was taken to make coins with original images and intelligible inscriptions.
OBVERSE: imitation of Anglo-Saxon short cross denarius. Between arms of cross ODOD.
Pseudolegend Letters: AAE (?)
NOTE: The correct lettering: ODDO and LE in the abutment legend. This deviates from the typical Pomeranian imitations. It is possible that this is a product of a mint from Greater Poland from times of Bolesław the Brave (992-1025), but no dies connections with known Polish imitations have been found so far.
REVERSE: imitation of Anglo-Saxon annulate short cross type. Signs VVVV between cross arms.
