Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander

"The Last Severan" Born in 208 AD in Phoenicia (modern-day Lebanon), he became emperor at the age of 13. During his reign, he was heavily influenced by his mother, who acted as his regent and advisor. He was known for his moderation and efforts to promote more harmonious and stable governance. He attempted to restore the authority of the Senate, reduce taxes, and show clemency to his enemies. However, the military grew dissatisfied with his policies, and external threats from the Sassanian Empire and Germanic tribes further strained the empire.

In 235 AD, a rebellion broke out among the Roman troops led by General Maximinus Thrax, who gained popularity with the legions. Severus and his mother were murdered by their own soldiers. With his death, the Severan dynasty came to an end.
