Luca Romano
The LVCA ROMANO Collection

A less common Trajan denarius from the beginning of 112 AD with Vesta on the reverse (Woytek 392b). In Roman mythology, Vesta held a central place in both religious and civic life. As the goddess of domestic hearth, she symbolized the warmth and unity of the family, and her sacred fire represented the continuity of Roman civilization itself. The flame in her temple, tended by the Vestal Virgins, was believed to protect Rome from harm and ensure its prosperity.
