CILICIA, Tarsus. Trajan Decius. AD 249-251. Æ (32mm, 25.04 g, 5h). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Perseus, holding patera and harpa, and Demeter (or priestess?), holding lighted torch with each hand, flanking garlanded altar with bull lying left before; behind altar, upper portion of figure (statue of Trajan Decius?), holding a round shield and spear; to left of altar, tall column surmounted by cult statue of Apollo Lyceius. SNG BN 1767 (same dies); SNG Levante 1165 (same dies); RIC IX 1349. Fine, brown surfaces with traces of green, some porosity. Rare, the authors of RPC cite 13 specimens, all struck from the same pair of dies.
