About the 500 zloty banknote

The banknote with a nominal value of PLN 500 is another circulation banknote, next to the other banknotes in the "Polish Rulers" series, from PLN 10 to PLN 200.

There is an image of Jan III Sobieski (17 August 1629 – 17 June 1696 was King of Poland) from his coronation medallion. On the front side of the banknote, the king is facing the stylized image of the Sobieski family coat of arms called Janina. On the right side of the ruler's portrait, a hussar helmet is visible. On the reverse side of the banknote there are: the crowned eagle and the palace in Wilanów. The banknote is in the colors of gray-brown, blue, burgundy and green.

The author of the graphic design is Andrzej Heidrich, who also designed other Polish banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 zlotys.

Narodowy Bank Polski holds the exclusive right to issue the currency of the Republic of Poland. The producer of the banknotes, commissioned by the National Bank of Poland, is Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych SA.
