Strategy for success in 'timed' auctions
Tempo di lettura 1 min
The winner of this coin must have been waiting for days maybe weeks, until the last seconds before the timed auction on this lot did close. The new high bid came as a complete surprise! It was my coin, was outbidding any other bid for weeks. How I did it: placed a very high max bid and could withstand any counter bid with my high proxy bid strategy! So if anyone did place a bid I would be able to automatically outbid them, by the time the auction nearly closed I would be the highest bidder and deserved to be the winner! Well only in my dreams.... The worse part was that I stopped bidding on other less expensive but still very interesting lots prior to this one, if I knew I would be not winning this lot I could have used my budget to buy almost three other desirable lots! Now I was empty handed, did let pass 5 interesting lots to go for buying no.6 and end up with zero instead.
It was not the first time this happened to me, since I like to play Fair game. Bidding on a coin what you really like, duel it out way before the auction day until the highest bidder wins! You know if it's within budget and which lots you have to let go because you go for that specific lot! That is not how you win on auctions like 'Roma numismatics' and others. For weeks have I been the highest bidder of several lots to scope down on the most expensive in a range of 6 lots, seeing the time wasted and happiness going away by other bidders who are very cunning and showing true colors only in the last very seconds!
We have here to do with a lower kind of 'Guerilla' style warfare.
