Marcus Iulius Severus Philippus
"The Battle of Verona" Philip II was the son of the Roman Emperor Philip the Arab and Otacilia Severa. He was granted the title of Caesar in 244 CE (the year his father assumed power) and the title of Augustus in 247 CE, at the age of ten.
After his father's death in the Battle of Verona in September 249 CE, where Philip the Arab's army, despite its numerical superiority, was defeated by the Danubian legions led by Trajan Decius, Philip I himself perished. He was struck by a sword blow so powerful that the blade cut through his head down to his teeth.
Meanwhile, in Rome, the twelve-year-old Philip II was murdered by the Praetorian Guard on the orders of the new emperor, Decius.
