Allectus
"The Recaptured Londinium" Allectus, a self-proclaimed Roman emperor in Britain, he served as the minister of finance for the usurper Carausius. Constantius Chlorus, who became Caesar on March 1, 293, was tasked with reclaiming Britain from the control of the usurper, who had ruled the island for seven years.
Constantius began his campaign by blockading Gesoriacum, the base of Carausius's fleet in Gaul. The loss of this city, which soon capitulated, likely triggered a rebellion in Britain led by Allectus against Carausius. After murdering his predecessor, Allectus held power for three years. In 296 CE, Constantius defeated Allectus's forces, composed of Frankish mercenaries, and advanced up the Thames to Londinium.
